In the outskirts of Munich, a dilapidated brick warehouse and an associated residence building have been converted into a forest sanctuary with a meditation room. The self-sufficient dwelling is reserved for a Zen priest who wants to retire there during the warmer days. The expansion has a special focus on the materiality and proportion. The brick thus becomes the subject of both buildings; in the meditation building as an outer wall and in the residential building as flooring. The building volume is modelled on the existing building, as is the exterior material and the building openings.
